The benefit year begins in July
The CRA recalculates CCB each July using adjusted family net income from the previous year, with amounts indexed to inflation. For July 2026 to June 2027, the income year is 2025. A change in income during 2025 is therefore reflected in payments starting in July 2026. CRA, July recalculation (opens in a new tab).
Maximum amounts and income reductions
For July 2026 to June 2027, the annual maximum is $8,157 for each eligible child under 6 and $6,883 for each eligible child aged 6 to 17. These are maximum amounts, not a payment entitlement for every family. CRA, CCB maximum amounts (opens in a new tab).
The payment calculation uses the number of children, their ages and adjusted family net income. The maximum begins decreasing when adjusted family net income exceeds $38,237. CRA applies different reduction formulas depending on income and the number of children; shared custody also affects the payment. This guide does not calculate an individual entitlement or related provincial benefits. CRA, CCB calculation (opens in a new tab).
