Canadian interest rates and inflation from Bank of Canada and StatCan series
The Bank of Canada's target for the overnight rate, the CORRA overnight repo benchmark and the Statistics Canada consumer price index with its annual rate. These are published statistical series, not offers from any institution.
Policy rate and overnight benchmark
The target for the overnight rate is the rate the Bank of Canada sets; it is a single effective-dated figure, shown with the last decision that moved it. CORRA is the overnight repo benchmark the Bank of Canada administers, observed each business day. A policy rate is not the same thing as the benchmark and the two are not interchangeable.
Consumer prices
The consumer price index, all items, and the twelve-month change in it. The index is published by Statistics Canada; the annual rate is calculated from the published index and labelled as Money Financial's calculation rather than the publisher's figure.
Source. Bank of Canada Valet series V39079 (target for the overnight rate) and AVG.INTWO (CORRA), and Statistics Canada table 18-10-0004-01 Consumer Price Index, all-items. Reproduced as published; the annual rate for the consumer prices series is Money Financial's calculation from the published index and is identified as such. No implied endorsement by the Bank of Canada or Statistics Canada.
A policy rate or benchmark is not an offer. No Canadian savings, mortgage or credit-card product appears on this page, and the rate available to a saver or borrower differs with the institution, the product and its conditions.
