Transition from April 2027

The SG Child Support Package replaces the Baby Bonus Scheme and Large Families Scheme, with payouts starting in April 2027. Singapore Citizen children born before 1 April 2027 who are receiving Baby Bonus Cash Gift payouts continue receiving them until 31 March 2027. Singapore Citizen children born on or after 1 April 2027 receive the Package: a S$10,000 Baby Gift in two tranches within 12 months of birth, a S$5,000 CDA First Step Grant when the account opens, and dollar-for-dollar CDA co-matching up to S$5,000. Singapore Citizen children turning 1 to 16 from 2026 onwards receive S$2,000 in Child Credits annually. The first payout starts from April 2027; subsequent payouts are on the child's birthday. For children born from 1 January 2015 to 31 March 2027, existing First Step Grant amounts apply and saving up to the existing CDA co-matching cap can continue until 30 September 2027. All CDA co-matching caps become S$5,000 from 1 October 2027. For Singapore Citizen children born on or after 1 January 2015, the CDA remains open until the end of the year the child turns 16; unused funds transfer automatically to the Post-Secondary Education Account, up to its cap. Cash Gift eligibility and payments

Before the April 2027 transition, under the published Baby Bonus rules, the child must be a Singapore Citizen and the parents lawfully married for the Cash Gift. The total is S$11,000 for the first and second child or S$13,000 for the third and subsequent child, scheduled for payment into the Child Savings Account over the first six-and-a-half years under that pre-transition schedule. First Step Grant and co-matching are separate

The First Step Grant is deposited when the CDA opens without parents saving first. It is S$5,000 for the first and second child, and S$10,000 for the third and subsequent child born on or after 18 February 2025 and before 1 April 2027. Under the pre-transition schedule, subsequent deposits receive dollar-for-dollar government matching up to the child's birth-order cap. Interest and deposits above the matching cap are not matched. CDA use is restricted

CDA savings fund approved expenses at Baby Bonus Approved Institutions, including education and healthcare for the child or siblings. They cannot be withdrawn as cash.
