The claim determines payment and duration

Service Canada calculates benefits using insurable earnings and the applicable calculation period. Ordinary regular benefits last from 14 to 45 weeks, depending on regional unemployment and insured hours. This general explanation does not determine claim eligibility, family supplements, deductions or an individual award. Service Canada, EI regular benefit amounts (opens in a new tab).
