Job seeker rates from 20 September 2026
Rates for a single job seeker, principal carer or person exempt from mutual obligation are updated on 20 March and 20 September; in all other circumstances they are updated on 1 January. Services Australia Youth Allowance for job seekers (opens in a new tab).
The maximum fortnightly payments from 20 September 2026 are A$418.90 for a single person younger than 18 living at a parent’s home, A$482.40 for a single person 18 or older living at a parent’s home, and A$677.20 for a single person living away from a parent’s home. A single person with children has a maximum of A$854.20, and a single job seeker principal carer exempt from mutual obligation requirements in the listed circumstances has a maximum of A$1,068.20. Services Australia Youth Allowance for job seekers (opens in a new tab).

Students and Australian Apprentices
Rates for students and Australian Apprentices are updated on 1 January each year. The maximum fortnightly payments from 1 January 2026 are A$418.90 for a single person younger than 18 living at a parent’s home, A$482.40 for a single person 18 or older living at a parent’s home, and A$677.20 for a single person living away from a parent’s home.
