The published quarterly OA rate
CPF Board publishes an OA rate of 2.5% per annum for 1 October to 31 December 2026. The rate is reviewed quarterly using the three-month average of major local banks' interest rates, subject to the legislated minimum of 2.5% per annum. CPF Board, earning CPF interest (opens in a new tab).
Extra interest depends on age and combined balances
Below age 55, extra interest is 1% per annum on the first S$60,000 of combined CPF balances. From age 55, it is 2% on the first S$30,000 and 1% on the next S$30,000. In both cases, OA savings included in the assessment are capped at S$20,000. CPF Board, extra interest (opens in a new tab).
Account order and the destination of extra interest
The assessment uses Retirement Account balances first, including CPF LIFE premium balances, then OA up to S$20,000, then Special Account and MediSave Account balances. Extra interest on OA savings goes to the Special Account below age 55 or Retirement Account from age 55. Extra interest on other account balances goes to the respective accounts; CPF LIFE participation has separate crediting arrangements. CPF Board, extra interest (opens in a new tab).
